Ron Shaw retired as President and CEO from Pilot Pen on April 30, 2007; he was retained by Pilot as Chairman until May 2009. He began his career as a salesman for Bic Pen in 1961. Joining Pilot Pen in 1975, he ultimately garnered the skills needed to advance his career and became President in 1986. Under Mr. Shaw’s leadership, the company grew from $1 million in sales to just under $200 million. He was on the Board of Directors of the parent company, Pilot Corporation, the oldest and largest manufacturer of writing instruments in Japan. Ron is one of only 6 Americans ever to serve on the Board of Directors of a publicly held Japanese company. Prior to sales, Ron was a comedian; an opening act for performers like Dean Martin and Liberace. Community interests are important to Ron who volunteers for many local and national charitable institutions including the Anti-Defamation League, City of Hope National Medical Center, and Juvenile Diabetes Association.
