How often have you heard someone say, “I’ve never even HEARD of peripheral neuropathy?” How many doctors have you encountered that knew little about the disease? How many times have others misjudged you because of symptoms they observed in you but didn’t understand were associated with your peripheral neuropathy?
What if telling your story of neuropathy, touched one other person and helped them to better understand what their loved one was going through? What if your story made just one doctor better understand his patient? What if your story inspired someone else to tell theirs?
That’s The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy’s goal for this upcoming #GivingTuesday on November 29, 2016 – to have you all share your stories and increase awareness of peripheral neuropathy so that we may help all who suffer from the disease live better. On #Giving Tuesday we want to build awareness and GIVE HOPE.
What is #GivingTuesday?
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy. #GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving.
How is The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy (FPN) Participating in #GivingTuesday?
Through your stories we want #GivingTuesday to be an opportunity for people to learn what peripheral neuropathy is, how many people it afflicts and just how life-changing it can be for so many. As a result, we hope to highlight why it’s so important for FPN to provide resources that educate and inform patients, doctors and caretakers about PN and to double our efforts to find a cure. The most important aspect of this campaign is the opportunity for you to TELL YOUR STORY! It can be just a sentence: “I have Peripheral Neuropathy. If you’d like to learn more visit FPN’s website.” or tell your friends more details of how living with PN challenges you and/or inspires you. It’s completely up to you.
Here’s how…
FACEBOOK USERS:
If you are a FB user, we would like you to create a “Facebook Fundraiser” to start on or just before Tuesday 11/29/16 (the official start of #GivingTuesday). The most important part of this process is for you to tell your story of living with PN. When you create the fundraiser (it’s really easy, see attached instructions), use the space provided to share something you want your friends and family to know about what it’s like to live with PN. Be sure to “share the fundraiser” with your FB friends.

NON FACEBOOK USERS:
On Tuesday, 11/29/16 we want you to tell your story too. Please use the attached template to send an email to your friends and family sharing something you want them to know about what it’s like for you to live with PN.
