Cost of Diabetes Care in US Keeps Climbing

The total cost of diabetes in the US jumped from $174 billion in 2007, to $245 billion in 2012. Costs in 2012 included $176 billion in direct medical costs and $69 billion in indirect costs, which includes absenteeism, reduced productivity, and unemployment caused by disease-related disability.
