Speak For Your Feet Contest for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), or nerve damage caused by diabetes, is one of the most known causes of neuropathy. DPN can be a common complication that affects the extremities and normally presents itself as a loss of sensation, most often described as numbness and tingling. Symptoms of DPN can also cause debilitating pain which is known as painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy, painful DPN or diabetic nerve pain. these symptoms include but are not limited to: burning, shooting, stabbing, or electric shock sensations.

Unfortunately, patients may not recognize diabetic nerve pain symptoms or know when to have a conversation with their healthcare providers about potential solutions. Therefore, many patients are living with unresolved pain.

Averitas Pharma partnered with the American Chronic Pain Association (ACPA) and members of the medical and patient community to launch the “Speak for Your Feet” contest. This campaign is aimed to raise awareness for DPN, empower patients to be their own advocates, engage patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers, as well as highlight Averitas’ commitment to the DPN community.

The goal of this contest is to create a memory aid to help bring awareness to diabetic nerve pain, emphasize the importance of identifying symptoms, and taking action in the treatment journey.
