IMAGiNe study progress: 2025 highlights and what’s ahead
As we start a new year, we are excited to look back at what the IMAGiNe study achieved in 2025. We are also looking ahead to our goals for 2026 and beyond. At the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy (FPN), we celebrate every milestone that helps move peripheral neuropathy research forward.
About the IMAGiNe study
The IMAGiNe study (IgM Anti-Myelin-Associated Glycoprotein Neuropathy Study) is led by Maastricht University Medical Center in the Netherlands. This study is building a worldwide database of people living with IgM anti-MAG neuropathy.
Researchers collect DNA, medical samples, and patient stories. This information helps scientists better understand the disease and work toward better treatments in the future.
2025 enrollment growth
In 2025, the number of people in the IMAGiNe study grew from 326 to 356 participants. This is a 9.2% increase from 2024!
This growth is thanks to new research centers joining the study, including The Ohio State University and Kansas State University. Their support helps more patients take part and strengthens the study overall.
New research published in 2025: IgM-RODS
In 2025, researchers also published a new study called the IgM-RODS (Rasch-Built Overall Disability Scale).
This research created a new questionnaire that helps measure symptoms of anti-MAG neuropathy. The questionnaire asks about how the disease affects daily activities and everyday functioning. This tool is important because it will help future studies test possible treatments more accurately.
To learn more about IgM-RODS, visit the IMAGiNe research publications page on the FPN website. Stay tuned for more updates this year as new research findings occur.
New research project: IMAGiNe biomarker mapping
A new IMAGiNe research study is now underway. This three-year study will focus on tracking biomarkers over time and will take place in the Netherlands. Biomarkers are important for research because they help scientists understand how IgM-PNP starts, how it changes over time, and why it affects people differently. They can also show signs of the disease getting worse before symptoms become more noticeable.
The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy is excited to support this important work. So far, we have raised $415,000 toward our $516,842 goal, and we are thankful to everyone who has made this progress possible. We still need your help to fully fund the study. As a special thank you, all donors will be invited to join an online discussion with Dr. Perry van Doormaal via an online forum, offering an opportunity to hear firsthand about the research and ask questions. If you are interested in supporting this important research, please email us at [email protected].
Looking ahead
2025 was a strong and exciting year for the IMAGiNe study. We look forward to supporting even more patient enrollments and new research in the year ahead.
If you have IgM anti-MAG peripheral neuropathy and would like to take part in the study, or if you would like to help fund this research, please email us at [email protected].
