Introducing the Mazawey Legacy Giving Circle

In honor of National Make-A-Will Month in August, we are proud to launch the Mazawey Legacy Circle— recognizing supporters who include us in their estate plans to invest in a future without peripheral neuropathy.

Named for longtime board member Lou Mazawey, this new giving society celebrates planned gifts that speed up research, support patient education, and raise awareness about PN.

Driving neuropathy research forward: FPN meets with NIH

FPN staff recently met with members of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes (NINDS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Joined by members of FPN’s MedSci Board, Ahmet Höke, MD, PhD, FRCPC, from Johns Hopkins University and Nathan Staff, MD, PhD, from Mayo Clinic, the purpose of the meeting was to present and discuss updates at their respective organizations.

During the meeting, Walter Koroshetz, MD, Director of the NINDS, and his team communicated several changes to the research model at the NIH. We are pleased to outline these updates from NIH for our research community.

Breakthrough in neuropathy research

New findings from FPN’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Board member, Sandra Rieger, PhD, uncover a key mechanism behind PN, offering hope for treatments that go beyond symptom relief. This may be a turning point for millions living with nerve damage.

Q&A with Dr. Chamessian on Neuropathic Pain Management

In April, FPN welcomed Alexander Chamessian MD, PhD, from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, to present on neuropathic pain management. During this 60-minute recorded webinar, Dr. Chamessian provided an overview of emerging treatment options for managing neuropathic pain.

Following the session, FPN’s Executive Director Lindsay Colbert sat down with Dr. Chamessian to ask some questions that were not answered during the program.
