Neuropathy News Dec. 2025

November was Diabetes Awareness Month
Diabetes affects millions of people. It is a major cause of peripheral neuropathy. Last month, we shared information to help you understand how diabetes develops. We explained why it can damage nerves, and what you can do to stay healthy. Learning the signs early and managing blood sugar can lower the risk of neuropathy.

FPN Webinar: Inside our Biobank
Join us tomorrow, December 10, to learn about how FPN’s Peripheral Neuropathy Research Registry (PNRR), our biobank, is helping move neuropathy research forward. We will welcome Dr. Ahmet Höke, a neurologist from Johns Hopkins, who is the lead investigator of this research study. We also will hear from Adam Halper, an FPN board member, who is a biobank participant. He will share a patient’s perspective.
They will share what a biobank is, why it was created, and how patients play a key role in its success. They’ll also highlight discoveries made from the biobank and updates on ongoing research projects. This shows how the biobank brings hope for better treatments for peripheral neuropathy.

Widow finds hope in FPN’s purpose
When Matt first began showing signs of neuropathy, he and his wife, Cassie, didn’t realize how difficult the journey ahead would be. They faced confusing advice, failed treatments, and constant worries about the future. Through it all, they learned how important it is to have honest information and real support.
Cassie shares their story in hopes of helping others facing the same challenges.

November was National Family Caregivers Month
Many caregivers work full-time jobs while also supporting a loved one living with peripheral neuropathy. Their kindness and dedication make a big difference every day. Last month, we wanted to thank them and remind everyone how important it is to care for the caregiver, too.

Honoring our friend, Lynne Warner
We are honored to share that on October 20, FPN received the incredible gift of a substantial sum from our longtime supporter and friend, Lynne Warner. This generous donation, made through a thoughtful bequest from her estate will have a lasting impact on research progress and patient support to the peripheral neuropathy community.
