FY26 PRMRP Funding Opportunities Now Open for Peripheral Neuropathy Research

Thanks to our advocacy campaign, the Department of Defense (DoD) Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP) has renewed peripheral neuropathy funding for the sixth consecutive year as part of its FY26 $127 million research portfolio.

Multiple award mechanisms are now accepting applications, including the Clinical Trial Award, Discovery Award, Impact Award, Research Advancement Award, and Technology/Therapeutic Development Award.

Key pre-application deadlines begin July 16 and July 23, 2026, with full application deadlines running through September 22, 2026. Researchers interested in applying can learn more about eligibility, application requirements, and review criteria.

Click here for funding opportunities and forms.

Please share these opportunities with other researchers across the PN research community.

Fund the Next Generation of Researchers

Thanks to a generous group of lead donors, every gift to our Next Generation Scholarship campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000.

Last year, our community helped fully fund one $150,000 early-career researcher in neuropathy. This year, we hope to do even more by funding two scholarships for young scientists working to find better treatments and bring hope to millions of people living with PN.

When you give today, your donation will have twice the impact and help move neuropathy research forward.

IMAG±iNe 2.0: Meet the Researcher

In a recent interview with FPN, Perry van Doormaal, MD, PhD, Senior Researcher at the University Medical Center Utrecht and Principal Investigator of the IMAG±iNe study, shares the next phase of his research that FPN is proud to fund.

The IMAG±iNe 2.0 research study will use biomarkers to better understand a rare form of PN, known as anti-MAG neuropathy, and improve care for people living with IgM-related peripheral neuropathy.

Watch the interview now and hear directly from Dr. van Doormaal about this research.

If you’d like to support this study and be invited to an exclusive meeting with Dr. van Doormaal later in 2026, email [email protected] for more information.

A Pathway Forward with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine

Peripheral neuropathy can make everyday life harder with symptoms like tingling, numbness, and burning pain in the hands and feet.

In this guest article, Siri Michel, L.Ac., explores how acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine may help support healing by improving circulation, calming inflammation, and helping the body function better as a whole. She also explains why treatment is personalized and how small improvements over time can make a big difference in comfort, movement, and quality of life.

June is National Safety Month: Why it matters for people living with PN

June marks National Safety Month, led by the National Safety Council, highlighting ways to prevent everyday injuries—including slips, trips, and falls at home. For people living with peripheral neuropathy, these risks can be even greater. Numbness, balance issues, and muscle weakness can make navigating daily environments more challenging—and more dangerous.

As we focus on safety this month, it’s also an opportunity to better understand how conditions like PN impact mobility—and why tailored prevention strategies are so important. Start with NSC’s National Safety Month homepage to consider how to adopt their tips for those with PN in your life.
