IMAG±iNe 2.0 study welcomes new PhD researcher
We are excited to share an important update from the IMAG±iNe 2.0 Biomarkers in IgM Peripheral Neuropathy study.
With support from the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy research grant, UMC Utrecht has hired Lisa Bos, MD as a new PhD student to help lead this important research.
About Lisa Bos, MD
Dr. Bos recently completed a neurology internship, where she cared for people with a variety of neurological conditions. She also has a strong background in researching immune-related diseases.
During medical school at Leiden University, Dr. Bos studied antibodies in neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE), a disease where the immune system can affect the brain and nervous system, causing peripheral neuropathy- like symptoms such as a numbness or tingling feeling in the hands or feet She also conducted research on lupus and kidney disease. Her work has already led to two first-author scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Bos’s experience studying antibodies and immune system disorders will be valuable for the IMAG±iNe 2.0 project. The study is working to identify biomarkers – measurable signs in the body – that can help doctors better diagnose and monitor IgM peripheral neuropathy and, in the future, support the development of new treatments.
An important step forward
For patients and families affected by IgM peripheral neuropathy, the addition of a dedicated PhD researcher is an important step forward. Bos will help move the project ahead by collecting and analyzing data, working with patients and researchers, and helping answer key questions about the disease.

Research progress depends on talented investigators and strong support from the patient community. Thanks to funding from the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy, Dr. Bos’s appointment will help accelerate efforts to better understand IgM peripheral neuropathy and improve outcomes for patients.
