The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy Joins the Nation in Mourning for Former Senator Richard Luger

April 29, 2019

The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy joins the Nation to mourn the passing of former Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana, a great statesman and leader. Senator Lugar suffered from a rare type of peripheral neuropathy, Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Neuropathy. This condition is very painful, usually requires intense treatment to manage, and typically is derived from an auto-immune condition.

The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy is working to improve treatments and find cures for this and other types of peripheral neuropathy and extends its condolences to the family and friends of Senator Lugar.

Established in 2007, the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for peripheral neuropathy patients, their caregivers and healthcare professionals. The Foundation serves as a leading resource for advancing collaborative and innovative therapeutic developments and accelerating the ability to diagnose, treat, prevent and cure peripheral neuropathy. The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy provides education and support to patients today, while advancing medical research to bring new treatments, and hopefully a cure, in the future.

With Sincerest Condolences,

Lou Mazawey
