2026 proclamations for Peripheral Neuropathy Awareness Week

Why Advocating for Peripheral Neuropathy Awareness Matters

Peripheral neuropathy affects millions of people, yet it often remains misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or overlooked. People living with peripheral neuropathy may feel pain, tingling, numbness, burning, or have trouble moving. These symptoms can make daily life harder.

Raising awareness helps people recognize symptoms earlier, and supports continued research for better treatments, and one day, cures. Awareness also reduces stigma by reminding communities that peripheral neuropathy is not “just nerve pain,” but a serious medical condition that deserves attention, compassion and resources.

How Municipal Proclamations Help Amplify Awareness

One strong way to raise awareness is through municipal proclamations. When cities, counties, and states officially recognize Peripheral Neuropathy Awareness Week, they help share the message with the entire community.

These proclamations help reach more people—those who may not know they have peripheral neuropathy, caregivers looking for help, and leaders who can support better healthcare and funding. Proclamations turn awareness into action by showing public support for people living with this condition.

In 2026, communities across the country stepped forward to officially recognize Peripheral Neuropathy Awareness Week.

Below is the list of municipal proclamations secured in 2026 in support of Peripheral Neuropathy Awareness Week. Each one represents an important step toward greater awareness, understanding, and hope.

2026 proclamations

Jonesboro, Arkansas Mayoral Proclamation
Secured by PN patient Jayne S.
On April 30, 2026, Jayne will accept a Jonesboro proclamation on behalf of the Foundation at the Mayor’s Proclamation Ceremony.

Jayne successfully secured comprehensive coverage for the ceremony, including radio, television, community displays, and a senior center presentation. We will feature her efforts in an upcoming article and video.

NYS Senate Proclamation and Town of Huntington Proclamation
Secured by PN patient Stacey U.
On March 30, 2026, Stacey secured a NYS Senate proclamation on behalf of the Foundation. She will also secure another proclamation during PN Awareness Week on May 5, 2026, on behalf of FPN, from the Town of Huntington.
This is not the first time she has secured a proclamation for neuropathy. Read her story from 2024.

Stacey shares, “Securing recognition for Peripheral Neuropathy Awareness Week every year helps bring visibility to a condition that is too often overlooked and mis-understood. Proclamations serve to become a voice for patients to validate their symptoms. Proclamations assist in driving diagnosis and better treatments. Proclamations help remind and educate communities and policymakers that peripheral neuropathy is a serious neurological condition that deserves greater awareness, research, and support.”
