A controlled clinical study from Boston University School of Medicine and the Veterans Administration indicates that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help relieve chronic pain for people suffering wtih type II diabetes. Left untreated, elevated glucose levels can develop into nerve damage, causing painful burning and stinging sensations in the hands and feet.
